From a shared passion
to a growing journey.
Flora began with our shared interest in working with color, texture and handmade objects. Our first experiences were with patina, exploring how color, surface and hand-finishing could give a piece a different character.
Flora did not become what it is today all at once. Over time, curiosity led us towards new materials and techniques. One of those paths was the art of seven-color painting and glazing. We learned the technique, experimented with it and gradually developed our own approach to color and pattern. From this exploration, handmade tiles became part of the Flora collection and eventually grew into an important part of our work.
Today, Flora includes tiles, lighting and objects for the home. Although the collection has expanded over the years, our approach remains rooted in curiosity, learning, experimentation and the character that comes from work made by hand.
Two sisters,
one vision.
We are Flora and Fatemeh Jalali, two sisters with different academic and professional backgrounds and a shared interest in art, design and making.
Before Flora became our main focus, our professional paths were in engineering and architecture. Those backgrounds still influence the way we think about form, proportion, materials and space today.
Alongside our academic and professional paths, we continued to explore creative work and hands-on techniques. What began with patina gradually expanded through learning, experimentation and our interest in Iranian craft, including the art of seven-color painting and glazing.
Design has always been part of this journey — from graphic and spatial design to shaping and renovating our own studio. Over the years, these different experiences have come together to form the visual language of Flora and the way we approach our work today.
